Long days. Short nights. Not enough sleep. No time to think.

I was talking to a friend on Friday and the question came up: Why do men feel the need to impregnate women? I mean, even men that have their own women - a guy will have a female friend and the thought of her having his baby will be a fleeting thought in his mind. Why is that??

Its probably territorial, to say the least--ownership.

No matter how many ways I slice, dice and analyze, I come up with the same thing. It's more territorial than anything else.

I was gently persuaded to elaborate. I broke it down to the "act of impregnation", the aftermath (knowing that the "act" was without birth control on both sides), the "I'm pregnant" notification, watching the belly grow, the birth, everything is territorial. Everything is the man saying "I did this."

hmmm... interesting. what benthebald said, rings true to me. the whole, not using birth control - so that they have a true feeling of power(?) and are doing something.
